Using Math on Notebooks, Boards, Board Sections and PDFs

Nebo processes math differently depending on the page type. Here’s a quick guide to working with math in Notebooks, Boards, Board Sections, and PDFs, compared to Document pages:

Here's a quick guide:

1. Convert Handwriting to Math:

  • Write the equation by hand.
  • Select the handwriting with the lasso.
  • Tap Convert as...,
  • Select Math.

Note: If you write two or more math equations, each must be converted individually. Selecting multiple equations at once will result in them being converted as a single equation.

2. Add More Elements to Existing Math:

  • Write next to the converted math.
  • Select the new content, then
  • Tap Convert as...
  • Select Math to merge it with the existing expression.

3. Resize:

  • After conversion, math content behaves like normal text on the page.
  • Tap the expression with your finger to resize.
  • Math can be resized using text block handles.

4. Apply Color

  • Color can be applied before or after conversion.
  • Select the desired elements with the lasso, then choose a color from the palette.

5. Copying Math:

Customizing Your Math Equation

Nebo provides several customization options to adjust Math equation for clarity and usability:

  1. Edit Colors: Before writing, select a color from the pen toolbar. Multiple colors can be used in a single Math equation.
  2. Resize and Move: Tap the Math equation to reveal handles for resizing. You can also drag and drop the Math equation to reposition it on the page.

General Math Settings

To set default preferences for all math equations:

  • Go to Settings > Math in the side panel.

Options Include:

  • Deactivate Solver: Disable solving to focus on typesetting. Tap the math object, then turn off Calculation.
  • Approximation Mode: Choose between Truncated or Rounded results. Tap the math object, then select the "..." menu for options.
  • Angle Units: Set angles to Degrees or Radians in the Math menu.

Note: The solver is only available on Document pages.

Quick Math Tips

  • Erase Content: Use the erase gesture to quickly remove parts of an equation.
  • Limitations:
    • Styling options like bold or italics are not available for math.
    • Converting complex math back to handwriting is not recommended and may cause issues.

For advanced math tasks or solver functionality, use a Math object on a Document page.
