1. How to Backup Your Nebo Library:

Before initiating any OS update, it's essential to backup your Nebo library to safeguard your notes. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Open the notebook side panel within Nebo.
  2. Select "Settings."
  3. Choose "Backup."
  4. Decide between "Sync and Backup" or "Backup": 
    • If you already have a MyScript account, you can select  "Sync and Backup" and proceed to step 5* below.
    • "Sync and Backup" syncs your Nebo library with your cloud account and creates a backup on your device. 
    • "Backup" creates a full library backup on your device without syncing to the cloud.
  5. *Select where you want to store your backup. Note: For Android users, backup cannot be stored on the device itself, so consider emailing it to a secondary location.

2. Creating a MyScript Account:

While Nebo can be used without a MyScript account, syncing notes with the cloud requires one. Here's how to set it up if necessary:

  1. In Nebo, access Settings from the side panel.
  2. Select "Account" and tap "Sign in."
  3. On the Sign-in screen, choose "Create an account."
  4. Sign in with an Apple, Google, Microsoft account, or enter your email and password. Do not use a temporary Apple email as these cannot be used for syncing.
  5. Confirm your understanding of the legal notice and privacy policy.
  6. Tap "Sign up" and open the 'Activate your account' email from MyScript in your inbox. Don't forget to check in your spam folder.
  7. Tap "Activate" to complete the process.

3. Syncing Notes with the Cloud:

Syncing your notes ensures they're accessible across devices and backed up securely. Here's how:

  1. Sign into your Nebo app. If you have just set up a MyScript account you should already be signed in.
  2. Navigate to Settings and select "Account."
  3. Ensure you're signed in with your MyScript account.
  4. Enable syncing to your preferred cloud service within Nebo's settings.

4. Installing the OS Update:

Proceed with the Lenovo OS update following standard procedures outlined by the manufacturer.

5. Checking Your Nebo Library After Update:

After installing the OS update, check if your Nebo library is intact. If notes are missing:

  1. Ensure you're signed into your MyScript account and cloud service within the Nebo app and turn on auto-sync. Please wait a few minutes for the sync process to begin.

This pre-installation enables users to utilize the Nebo version that comes pre-installed on their Lenovo device. However, it does not grant users the ability to install Nebo for free on other Android, Windows, or iOS devices.

As the developers of Nebo, we supply the app Nebo (Version 3.0) to Huawei. However, as the manufacturer, it is solely within Huawei's jurisdiction to decide on the inclusion or removal of apps from their devices.


If you find yourself unable to access Nebo on your device, we suggest reaching out to Huawei Support Global for assistance regarding the missing app and any associated notes. It's important to note that we do not possess the ability to influence Huawei devices in terms of adding, updating, or removing apps; this authority rests exclusively with Huawei and is beyond our control.
