Syncing directly with Google Drive is available on Android, Windows, and iOS devices.
Getting started
Before you can connect to the cloud, you will need to create a MyScript account.
Please note that syncing is not included in the Nebo free version for iOS. To access syncing features, you will need to upgrade your Nebo app to the full version with a single in-app purchase.
How Google Drive works
Google Drive allows you to share your notes with the cloud, and from the cloud, across your connected devices. If you change or delete a note on one device, this will be immediately reflected in Google Drive, and then on your other devices the next time you sync.
Connecting to Google Drive on iOS devices
- Go to: Settings > Account > Sign in. Sign in to your MyScript account.
- Go to: Settings > Sync > Google Drive
- Toggle the Sync tab to on.
- Toggle on Sync over cellular if you would like to sync over your cellular provider's network. Note that this can be slower than a standard sync over Wi-Fi and may incur charges from your network provider.
Connecting to Google Drive on Android devices
- Go to: Settings > Account > Sign in. Sign in to your MyScript account.
- Select Google Drive. Sign into your Google Drive account.
- Toggle on the Sync tab.
Connecting to Google Drive on Windows devices
- Go to: Settings > Sign in. Sign in to your MyScript account.
- Select Google Drive. Sign into your Google Drive account.
- Toggle on the Enable cloud sync tab.
- Toggle on Sync over cellular if you would like to sync over your cellular provider's network. Note that this can be slower than a standard Wi-Fi sync and may incur charges from your network provider.
Navigating Google Drive and its features
![]() | To sync all your notes in one go, tap this icon once in the side panel, or tap the word Sync at the top of the side panel. This will sync notes both up to and down from the cloud. |
![]() | To sync new notes from your Nebo library up to the cloud, tap this icon. Any new notes you have created in Nebo will sync up to the cloud. |
![]() | To sync from Google Drive down to your Nebo library, tap this icon. This will sync the version of your Nebo library in the cloud down to the Nebo library on your device. |
Syncing across multiple Device
If you sync your notes across more than one device, it is important to remember to sync any new notes you created up to Google Drive and then from Google Drive down to your other connected devices. This will keep your Nebo library up to date across your devices and prevent cloud conflicts.
Nebo does not have automatic sync. We will explain how to manual sync two different devices:
Device A, the one that has the notes. Device B the one that we will see a copy of the notes. (Device A and Device B needs to be logged to the same cloud account)
Step1: The user will tap on "Sync" on the device A, this will upload ALL the notes to the cloud.
Step2: The user will tap on "Sync" on the device B, this will download ALL the notes from the cloud
Note: if user wants just to upload ONE notebook and not ALL the notebooks, it will tap on the icon "Up to the cloud" | ![]() |
Google Drive Sync Conflicts
Cloud conflicts arise when Google Drive detects that there are different versions of your Nebo library stored in the cloud and on your device. Google Drive will ask you which version of the library you want to keep.
![]() | Open Anyway | This will allow you to open the page on the device. If you make changes to this page and sync up to the cloud, this will become the dominant page version in Google Drive. |
Local version | This will sync the Nebo library on your device up to Google Drive. If you have notes in Google Drive that have not yet been synced with your device, these will be overwritten.
Google Drive version | This will sync the version of your Nebo library in Google Drive down to your device. If you have new notes on your device that you have not yet synced with Google Drive, these will be overwritten.
Cancel | This option will cancel the sync process, but it will not resolve the cloud conflict. |
Can I open or read .nebo files on the cloud?
Only Dropbox will allow users to see their .nebo files listed in the cloud after a sync. When syncing with Google Drive or iCloud, users will not be able to see their .nebo files listed in the cloud, even though they are there. The .nebo files can only be opened and read in the Nebo app.
Is there a difference between syncing and backing up my notes?
Yes, syncing and backing up your notes are two very different processes that if confused can lead to data loss. You can read more about this here: Backing up or syncing your data, what’s the difference?
Google Drive does not offer an option for users to retrieve notes lost during an accidental cloud overwrite. It is therefore very important that you make regular full library backups on your device, just in case the unexpected should ever happen.
Please note that syncing is not included in the Nebo free version for iOS. To access syncing features, you will need to upgrade your Nebo app to the full version with a single in-app purchase.
