Sync and back up your notes

Syncing and backing up your data are two very different processes that if confused can lead to data loss. Check this article for more of an explanation: what is the difference and consequences of Sync and Back up?

What is backing up?

What is syncing?

Backing-up copies data from one location to another for data storage purposes. This data can only be changed by actively changing or deleting the file and its content. In Nebo, this backup is stored as a .nebobackup file.
Syncing means that changes made to data stored in one location will be reflected across all the devices or locations where that data is accessible.
Auto-sync is enabled by default, but you can switch it off at any time in Settings. Auto-sync doesn't back up your content, please use the separate Back up option in Settings.
Store the backup files locally, externally, on a cloud service, or share. For enhanced security we recommend storing your backup file in more than one location.
Synchronizing your device with a cloud service, enables you to keep a copy of your notes or share and access them in Nebo across Apple, Android and Windows devices.

How can I back up my notes? 

  • Auto-sync is enabled by default, but you can switch it off at any time in Settings. Auto-sync doesn't back up your content, please use the separate Back up option in Settings.
  • Auto-sync is not instantaneous, it may take a few seconds for all your notes to synchronize across your devices. 
  • Please note that syncing is not included in the Nebo free version for iOS or Android. To access syncing features, you will need to upgrade your Nebo app to the full version with a single in-app purchase.
  • Never delete Nebo without first creating a Back up or syncing, to prevent potential consequences, such as the loss of your valuable notes. 


Syncing Nebo across different devices:

1. Sync your notes between devices of the same brand OS (Operating System), a single purchase of Nebo is all you need. Simply restore the Nebo purchase  on the other devices with the following possible cases:

A. If you bought Nebo on an iPad, you can easily restore your purchase for free on any compatible Mac M and iPhone by utilizing the same Apple ID across all devices.

B. If Nebo was purchased on an Android device, the purchase can be restored on any compatible Android tablet or smartphone using the same Google Play ID.

C. Similarly, if Nebo was acquired on Windows, the purchase can be restored on any compatible Windows PC or tablet using the same Microsoft Store ID.

2. Syncing your notes between devices with different brand OSs (Operating Systems), Nebo must be purchased on each OS separately. It's important to note that purchasing Nebo on one platform (Apple, Google, or Microsoft) does not provide access to Nebo on other platforms due to distinct licensing systems.
